Lore of Reaume. as with Arcana, has more to it than the obvious. Yes, The Kallanon Scales is about dragons (‘scales’ gives it away!) and The Nemisin Star is indeed about a particular star, while The Sleeper Sword reminds of other legends where a sword awaits a particular hand, and The Dreamer Stones will enter dream territory.
But there is more:
- the dragon legend is about prophecy and time
- the star shining so bright on one night only is about connection
- to succeed, one needs a helping hand, even a hero
- enter the labyrinth of the mind … and heart

At a glance, this is Lore Of Arcana. The ice fields in The Dragon Circle; the monstrous wave in The Drowned Throne; the blue flame of kin in The Kinfire Tree; and the infinity symbol for The Infinity Mantle.
On Fore-knowledge: There are various ‘states’ in which one may know something that may come to pass, among these:-
Premonition; the state of anticipating an event
Precognition; a more neutral advance knowing
Telepathy; a distant feeling, and not to be confused with mind communication
Clairvoyance; a clear seeing- a seer is expert in this art
Dreams; where a visitation of an event occurs in the unconscious and may be recalled
Dream incubation: a deliberate state, preceded by cleansing rituals
Scrying; technique, of which there are many, to produce images of the future
Omens; a happening that precedes the vent by way of symbolism
Auguries; a form of divination based on ritualistic behaviour, a chance outcome
Waking imagery: visions
Borderland imagery; the state of semi-awareness between waking and sleeping
Lucid dreams; dreams within dreams
Oracle; person or persons claiming to possess the means to see the future
Your salvation lies in the courage to enter that temple of dreams, torn soul. Offer it up, all that you still have hidden in your deepest recesses, and look with an empty vessel into that abyss.
The Ymirian Rosenroth on the Enchanter’s dream
I had a vision, a little boy listening to his father tell him of the One, Torrullin was his name, the father said, the Immortal who lived long ago and brought hope and joy and peace, and would one day return when he was needed …
Caballa’s words to the Enchanter before the destruction of Torrke
Peace of the soul you may never find, Rayne, or, in finding it, find yourself unable to hold it close for long, but know you will never be alone, even when it seems that way, for your blood will take many forms, now, and far into the future. Some will cause pain and sorrow, while others will give you reason not only to live, but to hope. I speak in riddles, I know, but you will know whereof I speak when the time is right. You will forget now, but many tomorrows past my words will return to you. Trust this, reach out to him, take his hand, for he will make you whole and he will return to you the essence of the other; he whose loss you will know to the end of days.
Mantra’s cryptic words to Rayne, he would become The Enchanter
There is a legend of a Sleeper who will one night awake to claim the sword of previous awakenings. We await.
The final words in the tale of the Enchanter, Ancient of Days
The Sleeper Sword
This is the telling of a time when all may change, for in the window to the future of all races has been seen the coming of a Darkness that has been and will be again, and it will be embodied as a threesome, two indivisible and two indivisible, for a time. Two will inhabit the same skin and be sentient and two will be of identical genesis, and one will be common to each kind. Do not be fooled, all is not lost, for Darkness cannot exist without lamps to triumph over, and if all things are in place new hope will come in the form of the Catalyst, he who is host to another not of the genesis, and that hope will not only release the Darkness, but also the Waiting One.
Teighlar of Grinwallin
Redemption will come in a form unknown to us and it will be a living sentient thing. And in its maleness will reside a tempest; The One, who shall have power to lead light over dark to overcome it eternal. Beware the passion of such beauty. We shall leave our haven in search of this sentient to bask in the light. Shall we return with it or shall the Dark Dragons follow to annihilate its glow?
Prophecy of Dragonne Queen Riana, 23rd of the title
The Kallanon Scales
Time’s timekeeper never sleeps
forever telling the tale
of twin war gods
come to their father
seeking magic to eliminate
the monsters of worlds
and in the telling
remind of a taliesman
fashioned in purest gold
a cavorting little dragon
a key, a truth
a legend, a king
the Mysor of old
dragons once, hidden now
hold in their palms
a glorious green sword
a beautiful blue sword
the magic that will
slay the old monsters
remember eternally an anniversary
a coming of age
number five and twenty
time’s timekeeper is awake.

THE KALLANON SCALES
The second LORE short!
This one did form part of the original version of The Dragon Circle, but I removed it after beta readers told me it detracts from the main tale. Some of this, in a truly shortened format, does appear, but what happens in the book is now different from what happens here, particularly regarding Augin, the Palace Guard who accompanies Torrullin to Pendulim. Augin’s fate in this short is very different!
Read, therefore as an aside 🙂
To ward Valarian souls against soul-snatching, Torrullin Valla, along with Augin, Palace Guard, journey to Pendulim. They need a flame-wright able to fashion a Life-Wheel, a device able to protect the innocent and their souls.
But there is more to the mission. A Champion from Pendulim is being prepared to invade the Dome of the Guardians, wearing a Wheel able to confer immortality. The Dome will not survive. The Champion must be stopped.
Together, Torrullin and Augin negotiate the dangers in the forests of Pendulim.
